DONE WITH A TOOTHBRUSH

I love watching videos on Youtube about painting.  This is done differently but still very interesting seeing how someone's mind works.  You may have to turn down the music.

In a few weeks we will be hosting Janice Miller's seminar.  You already have the information that has been sent to you and the pictures that have been posted on this blog.  You should have paid for this seminar by now but if not, have your cash or check ready before the seminar starts so Diane can write it up and have a chance to enjoy the seminar as well.  She will not be taking money during the actual painting.

We have booked Ros Stallcup for January and copies of the paintings have been sent to each of you by email.  I will bring in copies to the meeting.  During lunch, I ask that you vote for the ones you would like to paint.  We have several to choose from but only two will be chosen.  I have had feedback from several members on what they would like to paint, but not everyone responded.

We also have Peggy Harris scheduled in March but I have not received her submissions as of yet.

I have reserved a room at Ryan's again this year for our Christmas Party.  At that time we will install the new board.  Jackie will be President, Barbara will be 1st Vice President, Sue will be 2nd Vice President, and Diane will be Treasurer.  We still do not have a Secretary or Seminar Chair.  I have booked the teachers for next year but I am not going to be the Seminar Chair.  It would be nice if we had someone new step up and enjoy the benefit of being the Chair - as Chair you will receive your seminars at no cost but you will be responsible for picking up the visiting artist and taking her to her hotel room and back and forth to the airport.  If you are interested please let me know.

If you have not finished your Santa from last month and need help, feel free to bring it to the seminar and I will help you with it before and after the painting.

Ros Stallcup Seminar Photos

I am attaching the photos that Ros sent for the January seminar.  We are going to narrow these down to two and vote on them next month.  For those of you who have not painted with Ros before this will give you an idea of her style of painting.  We only have four short months before this seminar and we will only meet twice more this year so if you plan to attend you will need to sign up at the next meeting.  It will be opened to other chapters in October and once the seats are sold - they are gone.  So be prepared to sign up next month.

When you look at the paintings think of what you would like to try that perhaps you have never tried before; i.e., a glass container, a wheelbarrow, a gazebo or lighthouse.  Ros is very good at explaining what she does and she is a very loose painter.  I just know you will love painting with her.

Now a few thank yous - Jackie for volunteering to be President, Barbara for continuing as 1st VP, Sue for 2nd VP, Diane as Treasurer.  We do not have a secretary at this point or a seminar chairperson.  Hopefully someone will step forward soon.  Without these dedicated members our club would go bye-bye.

I hope you all practice those roses and leaves.  I enjoyed painting with you today.  Nest month we will have the Janice Miller seminar.  If you haven't signed up you still have time - give Jane a call or shoot her an email so we can get you on the list.

September Paint In

We will be painting Santas on Saturday so get together your painting supplies and be sure to include the following:

1/4" angle brush
Script liner for detail work
1/4" or 1/2" filbert comb (or flat comb/rake)

Surface of your choice, base coated, pattern on and if using the black background, you will need to basecoat the face.
I will provide paints.  I like the look of the black background but you might find it easier to paint on the off white.  The color I used is warm white.

This sled is about 5.5" x 8" long.  You can adjust your pattern to fit a variety of sizes.  Your pattern will be included in your email.

If you have any questions, email me or call.  I am having some issues with vertigo right now so I expect I will be home the next few days.

We will have discussions on our seminars already booked for next year, Ros Stallcup and Peggy Harris, monthly projects, and where we hope to have our meetings.  Please come with questions in hand and any suggestions you might have.

If we haven't said it before, we want to thank the New Testament Fellowship Church for letting us meet in their family room for the past two years.  It has become increasingly difficult to find a place to hold our meetings and seminars, especially one that does not charge for the room.  I have been in contact with several places but if they do not come through for us we may have to consider changing our meeting dates to every other month and we may have to pay to use a room.  Janice L. has been very proactive in suggestions for meeting spaces and programs for next year.  Hope to hear more for the rest of the group at the meeting.

As always, we will have a pot luck lunch.  See you at 10 am on Saturday.

Please keep in mind those members we have not seen for a while and when you have time drop them a note or give them a call, Jane Toman, Jeanette Davidson, and Pat Hutchins who has been ill.
Just because I thought it was funny!!  Hope you had a great weekend.
